Set in 1909, this animated short follows a dapper English remittance man sent to Alberta to ranch. Despite his genteel tastes for badminton, birdwatching, and liquor, he’s ill-prepared for the harsh realities of prairie life. The film beautifully captures the vastness of the prairie, the ache of homesickness, and the humor and tragedy of living out of sync with one’s surroundings. It’s a poignant reflection on identity, adaptation, and the clash between refined upbringing and rugged new worlds.
