Wildlife adventurer Gordon Buchanan uses a dog team to retrace the steps of famous arctic explorers and examine the ancient relationship between man and dog. First Gordon must train his dogs and earn their trust. Next they must learn to travel as a team. As Gordon and the snow dogs trek across the beautiful but dangerous glaciers of Svalbard, they encounter reindeer, arctic foxes and risk running into polar bears. The team walk together, climb together and huddle in the tent for warmth. Gordon is in charge of the dogs, yet entirely dependent on them for his survival. How has this delicate relationship between man and dog evolved and endured across the centuries?
